ROUND ROCK, Texas – July 31, 2023 — Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) is unveiling a series of groundbreaking offerings designed to empower customers in swiftly and securely constructing generative AI (GenAI) models on-site. These solutions enable the acceleration of improved outcomes and the cultivation of new levels of intelligence.
Expanding upon May’s Project Helix announcement, the new Dell Generative AI Solutions encompass IT infrastructure, PCs, and professional services. These solutions streamline the adoption of comprehensive GenAI with large language models (LLM), providing support at all stages of an organization’s GenAI journey. This expansive approach caters to organizations of all sizes and industries, facilitating secure transformations and enhanced outcomes.
Jeff Clarke, Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Dell Technologies, emphasized the significance of Generative AI: “Customers, big and small, are using their own data and business context to train, fine-tune and inference on Dell infrastructure solutions to incorporate advanced AI into their core business processes effectively and efficiently.”
Manuvir Das, Vice President of Enterprise Computing at NVIDIA, added that Generative AI holds the potential to transform data into intelligent applications for solving complex business challenges. Dell Technologies and NVIDIA are collaborating to harness this potential, ultimately benefiting customers and fostering innovation across operations.
The Dell Generative AI Solutions leverage the extensive Dell portfolio, encompassing Dell Precision workstations, Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell PowerScale scale-out storage, Dell ECS enterprise object storage, and a range of services. These tools offer the reliability required for deploying GenAI solutions, from desktops to core data centers, edge locations, and public clouds.
Leading Japanese digital advertising company CyberAgent chose Dell servers, including Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers equipped with NVIDIA H100 GPUs, for its generative AI development and digital advertising. Daisuke Takahashi, Solution Architect of CIU at CyberAgent, praised the ease of use of Dell’s management tool and the optimized GPUs for generative AI applications.
A notable aspect of Dell’s GenAI strategy is the Dell Validated Design for Generative AI with NVIDIA. This collaboration with NVIDIA results in an inferencing blueprint, optimized to rapidly deploy a modular, secure, and scalable GenAI platform in an enterprise setting. Traditional inferencing approaches have faced challenges in scaling and supporting LLMs for real-time results. This validated design addresses these challenges, enabling customers to achieve higher-quality predictions and decisions with their own data.
Dell Validated Designs, pre-tested configurations for GenAI inferencing, leverage Dell infrastructure such as the Dell PowerEdge XE9680 or PowerEdge R760xa. This includes a choice of NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs, NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, the NVIDIA NeMo end-to-end framework, and Dell software. This combination is enhanced by scalable unstructured data storage, including Dell PowerScale and Dell ECS storage. Dell APEX offers an on-premises deployment with a cloud consumption and management experience.
Dell Professional Services bring a range of capabilities to accelerate GenAI adoption, enhancing operational efficiency and innovation. These services include creating a GenAI strategy, full-stack implementation services, adoption services tailored to specific use cases, and scaling services to improve operations through managed services, training, or resident experts.
Dell Precision workstations play a pivotal role by enabling AI developers and data scientists to locally develop and fine-tune GenAI models before scaling up. These workstations offer performance and reliability, equipped with up to four NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs in a single workstation. Dell Optimizer, built-in AI software, optimizes performance across applications, network connectivity, and audio. This feature enables mobile workstation users to leverage GenAI models while enhancing performance and minimizing battery impact.
These advancements are underpinned by Dell’s commitment to meeting organizations wherever they are in their GenAI journey, positioning them for success in an increasingly intelligent and technology-driven world.
